Note: We will meet at the League office rain or shine, but we will only mark storm drains if weather permits.

Be a Steward of Stormwater and help keep pollution out of Lake Tahoe! Water from roadside storm drains is often not treated before entering Lake Tahoe or its tributaries. Most of the nutrients and fine sediment particles that cause clarity loss originate from roadways in our local commercial centers and neighborhoods.

Equipment, refreshments, and prizes will be provided. No previous skills needed, free to attend, and bring your reusable water bottle. Please bike, walk or carpool three or more for a special prize!

In partnership with the City of South Lake Tahoe Stormwater Program

Volunteers will
Sweep the storm drain free of debris
Pick up litter
Install English and Spanish markers onto storm drain grates
Chalk “SOS,” “No dumping,” etc.
Learn about the impacts stormwater runoff has on Lake Tahoe water clarity

Youth volunteers
Participants under 18 years of age must bring a printed and completed copy of the League's 2017 waiver (PDF), signed by a parent or guardian, to the event.
